Key points

  • Delivery: NTRIP over internet/4G (RTCM3)
  • Mountpoints: nearest-system + per-base redundancy
  • Compatibility: an RTK-capable rover with a suitable NTRIP client or communications modem
  • Subscription: one price for the whole farm (covers all equipment, not per tractor)
  • Network access: access to all RTK Solutions bases via NTRIP
  • Installation: PoE adapter included; the installed base needs suitable mains power, with battery and 4G backup built in
  • Uptime target: 99.9%
  • Guarantee: first-year satisfaction refund (return the base for a full refund)

Plug-and-play deployment

Install the base with suitable mains power and either Ethernet or Wi-Fi. The PoE adapter is included, while the internal battery and 4G connection provide backup. We then remotely configure the base and calibrate its position against the Ordnance Survey network.

  • 1) Mount the antenna securely above the roofline, clear of obstructions
  • 2) Connect the included PoE adapter to suitable mains power and provide Ethernet or Wi-Fi
  • 3) We remotely configure the installed base and calibrate it against the Ordnance Survey network
  • 4) Enter NTRIP details on the machine and work

What NTRIP actually does

NTRIP is the internet transport used to carry GNSS correction messages from a reference-station network to the machine. It does not steer the tractor, create guidance lines or unlock an ordinary GPS receiver. The rover must already support RTK and accept the correction format being supplied.

During work, the NTRIP client connects to a caster and selects a mountpoint. Some network mountpoints also use the machine’s approximate position to choose an appropriate correction source.

The settings normally required

  • Caster address and port: where the receiver connects
  • Mountpoint: the correction stream selected for the machine
  • Username and password: the authorised NTRIP login
  • Correction format: a compatible RTCM stream
  • Internet route: built-in modem, external modem or another supported data connection

NTRIP RTK questions

Does NTRIP need line of sight to the farm base?
No. The correction data travels over the internet. The machine still needs a clear enough sky view for its GNSS receiver and usable mobile data for the NTRIP connection.

How much mobile data does it use?
RTCM correction streams are small compared with video or general browsing, but the connection must remain stable while the machine is working.

Why can a receiver show GPS but not RTK FIX?
Common causes include an inactive RTK licence, incorrect caster details, the wrong mountpoint or format, stale corrections, poor satellite visibility or a missing internet connection.
